Core Values are defined as the essential and enduring tenets of an organization - the small set of guiding principles that have a profound impact on how everyone in the organization thinks and acts. Wellspring Church has identified these six values that will be our compass as we seek to honor God in all we do.
§ A Passion for God
We desire to acknowledge God’s supreme value in our personal lives and in the corporate worship of our church. We recognize our complete dependence upon God and so rely on private and corporate prayer for strength, wisdom and direction in all aspects of our lives and service to Him. We want to be a humble and thankful people. We want to be passionate about knowing, trusting, obeying and ultimately honoring God in everything we do.
§ A Focus on God’s Word and the Cross
We strive to teach God’s word with integrity and authority so that those who are seeking truth find Jesus Christ and those who know Christ become mature in Him. We strive to place the cross of Christ at the center of both our lives and also our service to God.
§ A Commitment to Community
We ask all our people to commit to and fully participate in the corporate worship of the church and in small groups. We will make it a priority in our lives to spend time with one another. We believe life change happens best in small groups where people are shepherded by committed servant leaders, encouraged to use their gifts and talents to benefit others, learn to love each other in a God-honoring way and work together to bring others to Jesus Christ. We are a church of small groups. Our church and our small groups will flex and multiply in order to promote growth and welcome new members.
§ A Conviction That Others Should Know and Experience God
We will seek to build relationships with those around us in order to introduce them to Jesus Christ. We want to help those who do not know God to come into a living relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. In order for God to be worshipped among all peoples, we will encourage and support church-planting efforts throughout the world. We also want to reflect God’s justice by helping the sick, poor and oppressed in our community and throughout the world.
§ A Willingness to be Flexible, Innovative and Sensitive
We recognize that change is inevitable and will continually embrace those changes that help us carry out our mission of reaching people who do not know Jesus Christ. We believe the unchangeable truth of the gospel should be communicated so that it is clearly understood by people within every culture.
§ A Dependence Upon God’s Sovereign Gifts
We believe in the sovereignty of God in the salvation of man and all things. We believe that a church should operate as a unified community of servants who use their God-given spiritual gifts and abilities in order to honor Him. We want to establish an atmosphere of opportunity and expectation so that each person will use the gifts they have been given as best as they are able. We encourage our people to sacrificially serve Christ and His people from hearts full of love and gratitude. We expect God to raise up Spirit-filled, servant-hearted leaders to meet the needs of His Church. We anticipate God’s gracious provision for every aspect of our combined and individual service for Him.
